Episode 15 – Ruth and Colin Stuart
This week on Leaders With Babies, Verena is joined by our first ever couple, Ruth and Colin Stuart.
Ruth and Colin (who are parents to a young daughter) both have successful leadership careers in their own right. Ruth as Head of Strategy Development at the CIPD (the main membership organisation for HR Directors) and Colin as a respected astronomy author and international speaker.
In order to progress your career and get to the most senior jobs, it can be essential to have a supportive partner. In this honest and open discussion, the pair chat about how their relationship has evolved since having a child, what they do to support each other now and how they deal with challenges as a couple.
As both pursue ambitious careers Ruth and Colin share some of the practical steps they’ve put in place to support their family, plus how they manage the ‘mental load’ and ensure it’s not one person’s job to project manage the family and finally why there’s nothing a good spreadsheet can’t solve!
